Military wives the movie. My thoughts exactly waynemful. Military wives movie cast. I know you missed a group! What about those of us, who a) don't live on base. B) Do NOT socialize with the members of our service persons unit and leaves their nose out of his career. C) Those of us that have children, an education, money of our own, full time career of our own and have no time or inclination to be tied up in FRG (Key Wives) gossipy bs, because I have a life of my own. Classify all you want, but, some of us, choose NOT to be involved with the military, other than loving our service person. I don't live on base, don't live within 500 miles of a base, our children go to a civilian school, we live in a civilian community - where we - are the only military family in our town. We like our life, we LOVE our privacy and we deal with the distance by meeting in places, where the military isn't and it works for us, very well.
Attended the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday. Honestly one of top 10 best films I've ever seen. Perfect mix of pathos (not sure I've ever cried more in a film 😳) laugh out loud humour and great music. Military Wives movie page imdb. Military Wives movies. Military Wives movie reviews. When I first saw this video I had no idea that that was actually Colin, I assumed it was an actor hired because he looked almost too dorky to be real. For some reason I always imagined Colin being some dashingly handsome Lost Generation-esque poet who spent his days sipping absinthe in cafes and polishing his collection of brass astrolabes. 
WOW. Just WOW. I am definitely watching this. Amazing show. Song sung with real feeling can't wait to see the rest of their journey espically Saturday night. Beautiful. Military Wives was just absolutely brilliant. From the moment it started to the rolling credits, I did not move, I was 100% enthralled with the characters and the relationships they had. I cried many many times throughout, found bits heartbreaking, but still I came away feeling lighter with a warm glow inside.
I laughed, I cried and I cried some more. The last film I saw that was that moving, was Kramer vs Kramer. I loved it.
What a beautiful made me cry.

Kristin Scott Thomas's two step-brothers served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and she called on them for background for the picture. 'I would ring them up and go: 'Does it happen like this, or like that? ' They were very helpful, ' she reported Kristin Scott Thomas fixed me in her sights. Was that froideur or merriment behind those famous, deep set eyes? It had seemed a fairly straightforward question: did she, I wondered, consider herself a singer? 'Well, ' she huffed, flicking her beautifully layered locks with great theatricality, 'I like to think I can hold a tune. ' And then she laughed. 'Yeah, not really, ' she admitted. 'But it was really good fun. ' We were in a suite at the Soho Hotel, discussing her new film, Military Wives, which opens here on March 6. Scott Thomas plays Kate, the colonel's lady who, with other wives on an Army base (including fellow star Sharon Horgan) set up a choir. It's a fictionalised tale inspired by Gareth Malone's BBC documentary The Choir: Military Wives — though strangely the BBC chose not to participate in what is likely to be a hugely successful picture. Scott Thomas's Kate hides her character behind a façade of effortless efficiency. Her husband, played by Greg Wise, is headed back to Afghanistan. 'There's loneliness at the heart of it, ' said the 59-year-old. 'The stress, the anxiety, the waiting for someone. Oh, I just do not know how they do it. ' But she does know about that world. Scott Thomas plays Kate, the colonel's lady who, with other wives on an Army base (including fellow star Sharon Horgan) set up a choir 'I spent a lot of my childhood on what they called The Patch, the cul-de-sac, like the ones we see in the film, where we lived. It was an RAF base up in Yorkshire. My father was training RAF pilots. ' Simon Scott Thomas, a lieutenant commander in the Fleet Air Arm, was killed in a crash at Portland Bill in 1966 when Kristin was just five. Six years later her stepfather, Simon Idiens, also a lieutenant commander, died when the Phantom jet he was piloting crashed into the sea off Trevose Head in Cornwall. It's very difficult being a leader, ' she said. I mention the 'K' word. Karaoke. 'I can't bear karaoke. I'd rather drink ink than go to a karaoke bar. So I let them get on with that. Can't do that. ' But the choral work in the film was different She found out about her grandfather Captain William Scott Thomas's wartime leadership while taking part in the C4 programme My Grandparents' War. 'When you're the captain of a ship, everybody looks to you; and if you show fear or anxiety that will immediately cascade through the ship. You have to be a stalwart and really, really strong. 'That's what Kate's trying to do. Keeping everybody together — which is her way of keeping herself together. ' Scott Thomas relished playing the part. 'It's always interesting to have the obstacle, ' she said. 'Her behaviour is creating the obstacle, and she's lonely. It's lonely at the top. ' She certainly wasn't lonely during filming when, sometimes, there were as many as 40 women on set. 'You did feel a kind of camaraderie and sisterhood, which was really nice, ' she agreed. So how did it compare to being the solo star of the show? 'Playing the romantic lead has its moments, and I've done some films that have been incredible — like The English Patient. But it's fun doing ensemble pieces like this one, Four Weddings And A Funeral and Gosford Park. Ones where you can really have a great time. ' Sounds a bit like a girls' night out, I ventured. 'Girls' nights out — urgh! ' she said, making a retching sound. 'It's to do with boarding at an all-girls school, though such evenings don't fill me with the kind of horror they used to. 'I like there to be equality in my evenings out. I like a bit of male input, yeah. ' But she was prepared to make an exception on Military Wives. 'I will give up my rule if you're making a film only with women. And luckily there was [co-star] Jason Flemyng, unfazed by the number of girls around. ' I mention the 'K' word. ' But the choral work in the film was different. 'The choir thing was very much how it worked among us, ' she told me. 'To begin with, it was tentative; and gradually we got more and more confidence, and it became easier. ' She had some vocal coaching. 'You do all the exercises and you feel rather foolish doing the lalalaas and the ooos, ' she admitted. Scott Thomas relished playing the part. ' She certainly wasn't lonely during filming when, sometimes, there were as many as 40 women on set 'I think I'm a mezzo soprano. Fairly common. ' What was really wonderful, though, and quite unexpected, was the 'absolute joy when you all do your best, and get it right. 'The first time we learned the main song, at the end we all turned to each other and burst into laughter. We were so happy to get it right! ' She found the experience therapeutic. 'You feel good, because you're breathing and you're relaxed. And the sound of it, when it works, is happiness! It was a tonic. ' Scott Thomas told me everyone got along famously on set, and pooh-poohed the 'mad' notion that the young actors might have found her a bit intimidating. 'Why are they so frightened of me? Because I don't think I'm a very frightening person, ' she said, dismissively. Later this year she will make her National Theatre debut, starring in Simon Stone's adaptation of Phaedra at the Lyttelton Theatre (a story I broke last year). 'I can't wait, ' she told me. 'I'm so looking forward to getting back on those boards. ' And then she bid me goodbye with a Parisian kiss and a tra-la-la.
I can't stop a Watching this and I still cry every time.
Military Wives is as formulaic as movies go, regardless the film is surprisingly good and it uses the formula really well. However it never aspires to be anything else preventing it from becoming a classic amongst the genre.
I haven't been familiar with the true story but from the start, you just know where it is all gonna go. It still works well but nothing is a surprise because of that. It still has some great moments and a fair amount of heart
It is seriously enjoyable and it is a likeable movie with a great cast. Kristen Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan are great here.
I'm sure there are many people who will like this film. I just can't see that much greatness in it. It's formulaic and does it's best to be a lovely and charming film but it does it in such a manipulative way, and I hate it when films do that. It is still worth watching though.

Now that looks like on hell of a movie with one hell of a cast. Military Wives movie database. Military wives 2020 movie. Sharon and Kirsten are superb. It's a moving story of friendship under pressure of military life, war and pain, with a lovely musical backing track.
Funny, witty, poignant and for me very emotional.
